The Motorola Edge 40 Pro was spotted in Geekbench’s database last week, and now the device appeared on Google Play’s Console. It will be a flagship-tier smartphone with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and 12GB RAM and a 1080p screen.

These bits suggest Motorola will be bringing the Edge 40 Pro as a global version of the alread official Moto X40 in China.

The stock wallpaper on the device even looks the same as the official images from the Motorola website, and we can see the 2.5D curved sides and the centered punch hole – all features seen on the X40.

vivo introduced the X Fold last April in China with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, and now we hear that the vivo X Fold2 will be launched as the world’s first Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered foldable smartphone.

Word comes from reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, who also said that the vivo X Fold2 will pack a 4,800 mAh battery – an upgrade of 200 mAh and 70 mAh over the X Fold and X Fold Plus’ batteries, respectively.

The vivo X Fold2 will also support faster wired charging – 120W vs. X Fold’s 66W and X Fold Plus’ 80W charging speeds.

Smartphone companies often introduce their own chips to achieve greater control over their devices’ processing and computational models. Oppo already has its own NPU MariSilicon X and a connectivity chip called MariSilicon Y, but still lacks a true SoC – system-on-a-chip.

According to a Mediatek executive, speaking at a foreign investment forum in Hsinchu, Taiwan, Oppo wants to have a true chipset in order to retain its competitive edge. An insider revealed the Guangdong maker already taped out their chip, and it will hit the market in 2024.

South Korea announced on Monday that it will launch its own 6G network using world-class technology, advanced software-based next-gen mobile networks, and by strengthening its network supply chains. The news was announced by the Korean Ministry of Science and ICT.
