Qualcomm and Intel can’t sell chips to Huawei anymore, report claims

The US government has allegedly revoked Qualcomm’s and Intel’s licenses to sell chips to Huawei, according to a new report from Reuters today. While the US Commerce Department has issued a statement saying it’s “revoked certain licenses for exports to Huawei”, it hasn’t named names.

Still, if today’s report is accurate, it most likely means Huawei won’t be able to use chips from either Qualcomm or Intel going forward, which will basically ensure it can’t make any more laptops, unless there’s some workaround that hasn’t yet been detailed.

Google Wallet finally launches in India

Google has finally brought its new Wallet app to India. You can download it from the Play Store. This gives you a “single, organized destination for fast, secure access to your everyday essentials”, Google says – things like boarding passes, loyalty cards, event tickets, public transport tickets, and gift cards.

Payments are missing as you can see, but that’s because, unlike everywhere else in the world, in India the Google Pay app remains available “for all things payments”.

So, for Wallet, Google has initially partnered with “over 20 of India’s top brands”. For movie and event…

The iPad Pro (2024) tablets with more storage have a faster chipset, double the RAM

Apple introduced the new M4 chip yesterday and if you read the fine print, you will see that there are actually two binned versions of that chip. Not too unusual, except that for the first time both bins are available on the same device.

First, the chip. The CPU inside the Apple M4 has 4 performance cores and 6 efficiency cores, except on some iPad Pro (2024) models, one of the performance cores is disabled. For those unfamiliar with binning, it’s the oldest trick in the book – you can increase yields by picking chips with a non-fatal defect and selling them as a lower tier.

Indian iQOO Z9x’s key specs confirmed

iQOO launched the Z9 in India in March, and on May 16, the brand will introduce the Z9x in the country. The Z9 available in India is different from the one sold in China. Hence, there was a possibility the Indian Z9x would also be different from the Chinese model. But now that some key specs of the Z9x have been confirmed, it probably won’t be the case.

iQOO and Amazon.in have revealed that the Indian Z9x, like its Chinese counterpart, will be powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC, pack a 6,000 mAh battery, and support 44W fast charging. The smartphone will come in black color in addition…
